Snow Bunnies

I snapped a few pics of our Daisy frolicking in the snow this past week...

...NOT, she mostly just stands and shivers.

She looks for the one patch of open ground and

takes care of business.

Then she's on the look for the open door and a warm house.

I pulled a few pics off Google Images. These animals have a real

sweetness.

and photograph much better than Daisy.

Love this one!

HEARTS A PLENTY

Just finished my Valentine's Day

garland project.

On New Years Day I said goodbye to all my Christmas decorations.
The bank of windows in my sitting room looked some what
bare after the lights and greenery came down.


I carted a stack of paper strips home from VS that we were
done with. It was much too pretty to wind up
in the trash bin.


To me, the animal print and roses just screamed
Valentine's Day.


I bought some ribbon and started cutting out hearts.
The ribbon I purchased was a thin brown...
it was just not working for me.


I found this wider pink ribbon,
it was just what I needed.


I glued the hearts together, sandwiching the ribbon in between.
Perfect!


It took a while but I finally got it finished.

Up she went.

I had some problems making it hang straight.

Some rigging was called for.

Added bows to the corners,

(the jury is still out on that detail)

secured some of the hearts where I could, then stood back

and took it all in.
I like it.

I decided to do a little side project since I had my

supplies handy.

Why not...right?

I lined the back of this little shelf with a couple sheets

of the pretty paper.

And made a few streamers to hang from it's pegs.

Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

CREATING ART IN AN AFTERNOON

It is amazing what you can do in an afternoon if you are

Inspired.

I hauled this big sign home yesterday from work...
it was headed for the trash.

It is a big unfinished frame with canvas stretched around it.
We used it during Christmas in the PINK room at VS.


I fell in love with this fabric I found at Sirs
last summer on a trip home to visit the folks.
The color in these pictures doesn't do it justice, it's much more
bold and vibrant.


All I had to do was stretch the new fabric over the existing
one and staple it down.
Super easy!

I love it when I get inspired.

It is a great accent for my new and improved

spare bedroom.

Animal Sketches

I have had the most fun today! I've discovered a feature on Blogger

that truly makes me smile.

It is an editing function for your photos.

I know some of you are saying...oh that...

I've known about that forever.

Well, I'm a new kid on the block of blogging and

it's all new to me.

I've taken the liberty, and I hope no one will be too upset.

Last Wednesday I had a long overdo hair appointment.

I'm the type of person that puts off going to the salon until

I'm ready to have my head shaved.

What is that about...does anyone else do that?

I've been nursing a cold for over a week,

seemed others in the salon were as well,

someone let out a loud sneeze and in

unison everyone said

"BLESS YOU"

That got me to pondering...where did that come from?

I Googled it today and found there are many explanations,but the one

most highly recognized is concerning

Pope Gregory the Great.

Pope Gregory was Pope during the 6th. century when bubonic plague

was hitting Europe. He ordered unending prayer and parades of

chanters through the streets of Rome in a effort to combat the sickness.

It was believed that sneezing was an early sigh of the disease.
The blessing became a common effort to stop

The Plague.

Here's hoping you'll make it through the winter season

cold free.





But don't be stingy with your blessings.

RANDOM THINGS

We woke up to snow this morning and it was beautiful!

I love how the yard, garden and street look after a fresh

fallen snow.

Unfortunately, I had to be at work at 6:15 this morning and wasn't

able to take any pictures until I got home.

These were taken about 4:00 PM.
Much of the snow was already gone.

I thought this was a cute one.

The Nandinas were weighted down this morning, but

were starting to lift again by four.

Inside my last bowl of paperwhites from the Holidays

are just about to bloom.

I don't think I've showed you this new pillow I purchased durring

our Holiday Fiber Show.

It fits in perfectly with my decore.

It's a wonderful mixed bag of components...

some crochet, some kniting and felting.

Here is the start of a project of mine. It's still in the

thinking stage. VS was getting rid of this paper and I

snagged it. I think I'm going to use some for a

Valentine's Day garland.

Well I know all of this is just random stuff, but that's

what happening here at Nanniepannies.

to my new crafting center.
