As Time Goes By

How could you say no to this

outrageous sweater

when you create wreaths out of

up-cycled sweater.

You wouldn't.

 

It's a "Susan Bristol" sweater.

She can rock a novelty sweater like no other.

It consisted of all these timepiece appliques.

I knew I would come up with something.

 

I actually came up with three somethings.

This is the smaller of the three,

an eight inch wreath.

 

 



 

This was my first one, a sixteen inch.

If you know me at all,

you know my favorite combination

is black and white,

so I had a ball.

 

 

The third one is here, also a sixteen inch.

Burberry Wreath

 Last week, while vacationing near

Seaside Beach Florida, I stumbled across this

"Burberry" sweater.

You would have thought I struck gold.

 

 

 

I knew I could put it to good use.

It was way too small for me to wear,

but for my up-cycled sweater wreaths,

it was perfect.

 

 

It was made from cotton and acrylic.

Had some beautiful cabling,

and was a nice neutral.

 

 

 

I went to the Burberry site hoping for some

inspiration on how to proceed.

In the end I went with the

traditional.

 

Back in the day

when I was a Victoria's Secret

store manager, I won a contest

and the prize was a "Burberry" umbrella

from Harrods.

The umbrella has been since lost or stolen

(I'm not sure which, just one day I realized it was gone)

but I did still have the iconic plaid

umbrella sleeve.

 

I went to work this morning

crafting and creating.

Covered a sixteen inch wreath frame with the sleeves,

created a few flowers.

I used some of the fabric for the centers and then

made a simple bow.

 

I used a couple of other cotton sweaters

to make some contrasting black and white flowers.

 

Reattached the shell buttons

and of course the label.

 I hope someone will see it and love it.

Chevron Birds

I went to the craft store the other day

and found this

chevron paper...

 

 

had to have it.

 

 

I went right home and started folding.

Have I mentioned lately

that I'm obsessed

with folding birds?

JUST CLIP IT...CLIP IT GOOD

I've been crafting with my origami birds

and clothes pins.

There are baskets of birds

in my house

and I wanted to come up with another

way to use them for

my etsy site.

My sister in law Terry, suggested I attach them

to clothes pins

for a fun fastener.

And so I did...

and have sold two sets!!!

Now I know, about now you are saying to yourself

"what the heck can I do with

Origami Bird Clothes Pins?"

Well, here is just a few

delightful ideas.

Embellish a special gift

or attach it to a

Birthday or Thank you card

as an extra something.

Keep your letters

organized.

Use it in the bathroom for drying your wash cloth

or hanging your sponge.

Maybe as a bookmark.

You can even clip your chips.

Anything needs clipin...

Yep, every home needs one

or even three.

THE WEDDING BELLS ARE RINGING

This has certainly been the year for
engagements,
showers,
and weddings.

Meet Mrs. Miller.
Formerly Yolanda Hernandez.
Yoyo and I work together
and have for many years.
What treat to see her marry.

I was so excited to find "fancyprints" on Etsy.
They will customize their prints with the
bride and groom's initials.
Perfect for Yolanda and Billy.

She loved it!

Bride number two weds today.
Summer is marring her long time boyfriend, Kyle
in Charleston SC.

Summer's name speaks to her personality. She is always
sunny and happy.
She loves bright colors and
animal prints.
For her I chose this picnic tote
and a trio frame for some
wedding pictures.

Leigh Anne, the gal in the middle
says I DO
in September.

Animal Love

I'm in love with whimsical animal art.

This little guy is making his home

in my bathroom

right now...although he has been known

to move around.

I'm showcasing some of the incredible artist at

You know how much I love

CATS and BIRDS.

Searching etsy I found there were 5384

bird prints in watercolor.

There are 3343 renderings of dogs.

Cats came in third at 2643.
TOO MANY CHOICES.

I settled on the

squirrel.

Only 163 choices.
