Wine Bottle Cork Ornaments

It's Sunday afternoon and I couldn't bring myself

to do any cleaning. 

 I decided to create instead.

Yes I've had a day of crafting.

 

I've been saving my wine bottle corks

since Christmas and today

decided to make something.

 

A bottle of wine is the perfect hostess gift

in my book, so why not add a touch

of whimsy around it's neck.

Wine bottle ornaments.

 

 

 

I'm an Alabama girl at heart

so I had to make this

Bama Bird one.

 

Until I can get out in the backyard

and dig in the dirt,

I'll do the next best thing.

Winter Gardening Itch

Along about this time of year

when snow is sitting on the ground

and it's so cold out

you can't bare to venture outside.

I get the itch.

I just have to PLANT something!

 

 

Both Southern Living and Better Homes and Garden

did articles about terrariums

this month.  I was seasoned and ready

to give it a try.

Went to my local nursery and purchased an assortment
of suitable plants...baby tears, mosses and such.

Better Homes and Garden suggested using
African violet mix so that's what I got.
 

 

 

I already had the glass containers and the pebbles

I would need, the only other thing I had

to purchase, besides plants and soil,

was some charcoal.

I just got a jar from the pet department

 at Walmart.

 

 

 

 

It was easy...

just a layer of rocks,

a layer of soil,

a layer of charcoal,

then your plants.

 

 

I added a few more stones

on top for interest.

 

Now all I have to do is

figure out how to care for them.

I'm still trying to master the

water amount.

I've had a couple of sales on my etsy site this week

so I decided I should get busy and

get a few new items up.

 

 

I just listed this set of four red and white bird clips.

In my opinion they would be super for your Valentine.

Wouldn't you like to get a gift

with a pretty bird on top!

 

 

I'm also going to try my luck

 at needle felting.

I've been gathering supplies

 all over the Internet

plus I received a starter kit

from my sister

at Christmas.

 

 

I don't know what I'm doing quite yet,

but there is lots of information

 and videos to help.

I think I will have fun with this!

My brother, Rick recently turned me and my sister onto

"Sons of Anarchy".

When he first suggested it I thought

yea right...that looks like my cup of tea.

I'm a "Downton Abbey" fan after all.

 

I have to tell you, I am totally hooked!

The show is so rich with characters.

I wouldn't care to know them in real life

(too scary for me)

but I am so glad to know them

from my living room couch.

 

We are into season two and I'm holding my breath.

 

 

Tonight Downton Abbey kicks off their third season.

I'll be there without a doubt.

 

I'm feeling so well rounded.

I'm on my third bag and

each time I buy them

they are not quite as sweet.

 

One year I will learn and quit while I'm ahead...
