SOUNDS OF A HAPPY DAY!

Sunday
First day of a week of vacation.
Second day of Fall.

What a great day to lounge in the hammock
and let the sounds of the neighborhood
lull you away to sleep.

I can hear the kid two doors down
bouncing on his trampoline.
Other children squeal with delight
as they play up and down
the sidewalk
out front.

It's quiet at the Pike House across the street,
I think the boys have a Rush function
this afternoon.

The birds are singing
the squirrels are playing chase
in the tree tops overhead.

A dog a block over is barking like
crazy at the
comings and goings
of his neighbors
no doubt.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzz
zzzzzz
zzzzzz
zzzz

Oh! The Boys are back.
Guess it's time to
go in.

Happy Sunday!

HEARTS A PLENTY

Just finished my Valentine's Day
garland project.

On New Years Day I said goodbye to all my Christmas decorations.
The bank of windows in my sitting room looked some what
bare after the lights and greenery came down.

I carted a stack of paper strips home from VS that we were
done with. It was much too pretty to wind up
in the trash bin.

To me, the animal print and roses just screamed
Valentine's Day.

I bought some ribbon and started cutting out hearts.
The ribbon I purchased was a thin brown...
it was just not working for me.

I found this wider pink ribbon,
it was just what I needed.

I glued the hearts together, sandwiching the ribbon in between.
Perfect!

It took a while but I finally got it finished.

Up she went.
I had some problems making it hang straight.
Some rigging was called for.

Added bows to the corners,
(the jury is still out on that detail)

secured some of the hearts where I could, then stood back
and took it all in.
I like it.

I decided to do a little side project since I had my
supplies handy.

Why not...right?

I lined the back of this little shelf with a couple sheets
of the pretty paper.
And made a few streamers to hang from it's pegs.

Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

WHAT A WEEK!!!!!!

Sunday: Had to be at work at 6:30 AM.
Day after Christmas sale at the Mall.

Monday: The sky is falling...
got smashed in the back by heavy, falling props.
OUCH!

Tuesday: Took a "sick day" to say the least.

Wednesday: Off day, but felt the first signs of a cold.

Thursday: Oh yea, it's full fledged now.

Friday: Back at work...
sliced my thumb open with a box cutter.
It took two stitches.

Saturday: New Years Day.
Threw out all the sweets in the house,
the scales at the Doctor's Office did not paint a
pretty picture.

Tomorrow is Sunday.
Back in the saddle
and
back at work.
HAPPY NEW YEAR.

SUNDAY SURPRISES! 2

Last Sunday started as a really good day
as most Sundays do.
Susan and I took our regular morning walk and kicked
around some beautiful Fall leaves.

When we got home we enjoyed our steaming hot coffee and egg biscuits.
I decided to get out into the garden and tidy up a bit.
Many of my plants were well past their prime,
so into the composter they went.

My sweet neighbor, Anna, who is in her late eighties or early nineties,
called me over to her back door to chat.

She was so kind to offer me her late sister's gardening clogs.
Anna knows how much I love to play in the garden as her sister Sarah once did.
I couldn't have been more delighted...
they were a perfect fit.

Later in the day another friend stopped by with a second surprise for me.

I was awarded "Yard of the Month"
from our Tree Street Neighborhood Association.
Tell me, how great is that???

I believe I owe it to my Fall project, the scarecrows
I constructed out of things I found in the
basement, garden, and gardening shed.

It was a TOTALLY FUN project.

You can read about it here.

Happy, happy gardening.

LAUGH OUT LOUD!

A smile starts on the lips, A grin spreads to the eyes, A chuckle comes from the belly,
But a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, Overflows, and bubbles all around.
~Carolyn Birmingham~

I happened upon this while taking a walk.
Good Sunday to all.
Happy Gardening.
