HAPPY FEET

I've just finished a project!
I've been working on it since Valentine's Day!

I'm calling it my "Happy Feet" pot.

I love the way it turned out.

I purchased this big silver pot from Big Lots for about ten dollars.
The color was not right for this project
and so I repainted it with the same
blue I used on my
"Catbird Garden" sign.

Once again I salvaged these Styrofoam feet from VS.
We had used them in Mukluks
this past Christmas
in our "PINK" shop.

Last year a friend had given us some pillows and fabric.
We used the pillows outside
so I thought the fabric would be perfect for
covering my feet.

I cut the fabric in small pieces.

Then Mod Podged them onto the feet.

I needed to water proof them so...

I applied four coats on "Outdoor" Mod Podge.
Couldn't find this in my town so I
ordered it online.

Now that Spring has sprung I planted my pot.
I used a Crystal Peak Obedient plant,
a Lacrosse Shasta Daisy,
a Blue Daze Evolvulus,
and some Creeping Jenny.

So there you have it.
My "Happy Feet" pot.
TOO MUCH FUN!

Now all I have to do is find
the perfect spot
and show off this little guy.

CATS IN THE GARDEN

This past week while I was taking some time off from work,
I traveled home to see my Mom for Mother's Day.
I took a quick detour at Crossville to visit one of my favorite
shops, the RUSTY ROOSTER.
I wanted to add another cat to my
Catbird Garden.

I've been collecting cat statues as long as I've
been gardening at Buttermilk Cottage,
about six years now.

I don't buy just any statue, it has to speak to me.

This is the first one I ever purchased, in fact,
I got this one
before we moved.

I like to hide some away for the visitor to find.
An unexpected smile.

Thanks for visiting my cats and I in
The Catbird Garden.

Accessorizing The Garden

Last month while I was waiting for things to grow and bloom,
I did a little accessorizing.

When ever I'm out and about shopping or junking and
see something that catches my eye
I say to myself
"how can I use that in my garden?"

I often use colorful plates, cups and saucers
to add interest to my pots.

Decorative items that are made for the home,
make wonderful garden accessories.
That is provided you catch them on sale.

I found these ornamental wooden dowels
that work great in this large pot.

Here's another one.

Oh, I love this.
I found these little Styrofoam birds at Michaels
Painted them white, added them to a wooden dowel...
instant art.

Here's a little better view.

Lastly, my old blue chair.
This is the third year I've had the chair.
I usually plant something in the seat but found this
pretty plaid bowl and decided to use it
this year.

Happy Gardening.
