The Making of a Wreath

The first step in making a sweater wreath
is finding the sweater.
I usually make bi-weekly visits to my favorite
thrift shops ...
don't want to miss any treasures out there.

I have been on the lookout for a yellow sweater.
I wanted it to be a sunny yellow
have cables
and cotton, if possible.
I love working with wool, but for summer,
cotton feels right.

I usually have an idea in my head of what I'd like
the finished product to look like,
but quite frankly I know the design will have to
play out as it will.
I just go with it.

I start to cut, then cover the frame
and then begin the flowers.
I have bins of sweater scraps so I just pull out options
and see what works.

After the flowers are arranged and glued on
I look to my accessory stash
to see what I can add to create
more interest.

Here's how it all came together.

I think the yellow and orange
make a happy combination.
