HAPPY FOR A NEW BLOOM

A new bloom for my living room.

I've just finished re-potting my newest purchased.
It's a Phalaenopsis Orchid.
The tag read, EASY...we'll see.
I'm hoping and praying it does well.

I've always loved having blooming flowers inside.
We are into the last stages of Winter here
and I can see things starting to bloom outside,
but it's still too cool to get out and play
in the garden.

This past Christmas a co-worker of mine, Justin Martinez
gave me a book about Orchids as a gift. He knew I
loved to garden and thought what a perfect gift
for someone stuck inside just
waiting for Spring.

Last week I headed to Lowe's to see what they had.
I knew my local greenhouse would have more variety
but wasn't sure if I wanted to pay that price
for something so unsure, after all I could
kill it in a mater of weeks.

Not only was Justin's gift an inspiration
but also this recent article in Better Homes and Garden
about Terrariums and planting in glass containers.

I went a head and bought a recommended potting mix...
wanted to do it right.

Who knew you had to soak it for twenty four to
forty eight hours before using.
Did I mention that I'm not a very
patient person?

Waiting...just waiting.

Now it is all done and what a colorful
addition to the sitting room.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Happy Gardening.

  2. beautiful! I love orchids but haven't had much luck with them. Of course I didn't start out 'right' with the soil and the re-planting. Keep us posted, I'm curious as to how she does. lovely colour.
