A NEW VENTURE!

Whenever I'm in the mood to
treasure hunt,
Corner Nest is one of the first places
I think of.

It is filled with wonderful booths.

has the sweetest little cafe
right inside the door,

and seems to go on forever
which makes for a great
afternoon of shopping.

Exciting News!
My sister Susan and I
just secured a small booth of our own.
Needless to say
I've been crafting like crazy.

One of the things I've been working on
is a line of memory boards.
I'm a big scavenger, I bring anything home that I think
can be re purposed.
When VS was getting rid of some padded tray liners...
I filled up my trunk.

I'm calling these my
Up-cycled "Tank" Memory Boards.

I pulled out bits and pieces
of this and that, just things I've been hanging on to
with hopes of an inspiration.

It's amazing what you can find when
you start going through your stash.

Postcards, old photos, broken beads
and necklaces.

I love mixing things you would never think to put together,
I'm just crazy like that.

Here's a fun one.
My tribute to the VS Fashion Show.
The great thing about all of these,
I didn't spend a dime.

These three "All Purpose Boards"
were crafted using
discarded upholstery samples.

Lastly, I did some vintage "shabby chic" ones.

Again I just used things I had in my stash.
Little puff hearts I had picked up from another
craft person's booth last year,
doilies from my late aunt.
Looking at one board,
I counted at least
five people's
handiwork.

Well, wish us luck.
I hope we make some money
but I know will have some fun.

STOWBALLS IN APRIL

This beautiful Snowball bush stands majestically
in front of a vacant house
in our neighborhood.

I bet it has been standing since
the house was built
in the early 1900s

Every Spring we look forward to seeing it's
bountiful blooms.

We have not been disappointed yet!

TULIP TIME AGAIN!

It's not even April
and Spring is in full force
here at
Buttermilk Cottage

My favorite season!
I love coming home to this yard
everyday.

This early Spring has got me wondering...
what does Summer hold for us?

There are lots of Azaleas blooming
in the neighborhood,
ours will be soon.

MORNING WALK

The lovely weather here has prompted my sister
and I to get back into our morning routine of
walking every morning.

Yesterday we spied something over a
back fence that took our breath away.

This morning I had to go back with my camera
and take a few shots.

Four cherry trees anchor this small back yard.
I don't think I would ever want to leave it
in the Spring.

When I got home this morning
I was inspired to take advantage to this unusual weather.
I thought I just might get a jump start
on my geraniums that I store in
our basement over the winter.

I usually don't pull them out for another month,
but it has been in the 7o's and 80's here and if I start them now
they should be looking pretty good by May.
Worst case scenario...
I'll have to put them in the shed if it turns off
cold again.
I'm going to take that chance.

Happy Gardening.

TOP OF THE MORNING!

Everything is coming up green
this fine St. Patrick's Day.

Well not everything,
but that's another project
and another day.

My two year old cherry tree is starting to bloom.
It's not at it's peak yet but it is
still exciting to see the bloom start to pop out.

Spring is my favorite time of year for the garden.
Everyday something new emerges
to make me smile.

They say it's supposed to rain today,
but I refuse to believe it.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
