YEAR OF THE RABBIT

Milka of "milka's jishiben", a fellow blogger, gardener and I hope
friend, posted about celebrating the Chinese New Year
a few weeks back. She lives in Malaysia and knows all the
ins and outs of this holiday.

The Chinese New Year actually starts
on February third.
This year it is the Year of the Rabbit.
The rabbit is a lucky sign.
Chinese tradition says the rabbit brings
peace and tranquility.

I've never owned a rabbit or know anything about their traits...
it got me to thinking...what rabbits do I know?
Oh yea, now I remember.

After my brother came along,
this rabbit was a staple in our house.

Sweet Thumper

It always makes me cry.

Beatrix Potter's
Mr. Peter Rabbit

Alice's white rabbit

Pikachu
He is a rabbit, right???

A Saturday morning playmate.
What's Up Doc?

The Easter Rabbit
Peter Cottontail
Never too old for him.

Okay, I'm stretching it a bit.
Volkswagen's Rabbit.

Once I got a little older, I met this rabbit.
The Playboy bunny

Now that I am older, Harvey is always a good rabbit to
watch on TCM.

One of my absolute favorite rabbits.
You won't recognize this rabbit, but he has been in our family
for over twenty years.

  1. Very interesting post! I hadn't thought about it being the year of the rabbit! Lots of great rabbits out there! I didn't realize there were that many of them. I love Bugs and Peter Rabbit the most. I have a neighbor who has a few pet type rabbits that they have running free in their yard. It is a hoot to see them when I drive by there. One is white, one is black and another is a tan and white. They don't have dogs. I wouldn't be able to do that here at my house! My dogs would eat them!

  3. I had a pet rabbit for all of 2 days. After my eyes swelled completely shut and I couldn't breathe, I took him back to the pet store. Turns out I'm super allergic to rabbits. They are cute though.

  5. Oh I love "Brown Rabbit"! My daughter (read me) had a white floppy earred rabbit, named Floppy(!), who lived 7 years longer than the 3 I was told a rabbit would live. They are such interesting creatures and so different than anything we had had before. Floppy was very sweet, all our dogs and cats were most tolerant of her and they could all co-exist together. Floppy lived in our backyard in a hutch we built for her and we would let her hop around the backyard when we were in it. And she could thump like Thumper! I don't think I would want another rabbit, but I love to see them, they are gentle, quiet creatures. Loved seeing all your rabbits in the post! Ann
