I went to the craft store the other day

and found this

chevron paper...

 

 

had to have it.

 

 

I went right home and started folding.

Have I mentioned lately

that I'm obsessed

with folding birds?

Wine Bottle Cork Ornaments

It's Sunday afternoon and I couldn't bring myself

to do any cleaning. 

 I decided to create instead.

Yes I've had a day of crafting.

 

I've been saving my wine bottle corks

since Christmas and today

decided to make something.

 

A bottle of wine is the perfect hostess gift

in my book, so why not add a touch

of whimsy around it's neck.

I'm an Alabama girl at heart

so I had to make this

Bama Bird one.

 

Until I can get out in the backyard

and dig in the dirt,

I'll do the next best thing.

I've had a couple of sales on my etsy site this week

so I decided I should get busy and

get a few new items up.

 

 

I just listed this set of four red and white bird clips.

In my opinion they would be super for your Valentine.

Wouldn't you like to get a gift

with a pretty bird on top!

 

 

I'm also going to try my luck

 at needle felting.

I've been gathering supplies

 all over the Internet

plus I received a starter kit

from my sister

at Christmas.

 

 

I don't know what I'm doing quite yet,

but there is lots of information

 and videos to help.

Black Birds & Skulls

I've always loved Halloween.

Last week while Susan and I were at

the Norton Jewelry and Accessory Show in Gatlinburg

I stumbled accross these plastic skulls.

 

 

 

When I bought them, I was thinking I'd make

some gardening stakes,

but when I got them home

the wreath felt like a better choice.

 

 

I'm always looking for ways to showcase

my origami birds.

Who do you know that has a

Halloween Wreath

with skulls and "origami birds".

Nobody, I bet.

2012 Annual Tree Street Yard Sale

Well it's Saturday evening and our annual yard sale
 has come and gone.

 

 

Early Thursday morning I started hauling things

 up from the basement

 to be priced.

I set up a card table in the entry way

 and went to work.

We had lost some things in the flood 

a few weeks back and I was worried

we wouldn't have much.

 

 

When everything was said and done

we had plenty to sell.

 It went straight out onto the porch

waiting to set

 for the next morning. 

 

 

 

We actually had people

 Thursday night

come up on our porch

 to dig through our boxes.

  There are some serious

"Yard Sale Shoppers"

in Johnson City.

 

 

For the last couple of years

 we've sold on Friday

with hopes of getting rid

 of it early.

The big sale is not until Saturday

but we do a

" Bistro on the Porch" 

on Saturday

and it takes all our attention.

 

 

This year I put out some of my

Origami Birds...

 

 

Sold some,

 but not enough to say

it was a success.

 

 

No one wants VHS movies,

 at the end of the sale

I was happy to let all I had go

 for $5.

 

 

It was fun, but I'm glad it's over.

Now on to the next thing at

Buttermilk Cottage.

Our Holiday Show

is in nine weeks!

 

 

 



IT'S NOT TOO SOOM

Is it too early to be thinking Christmas?

For some people, absolutely

but for me

 not a bit.

Last week Susan hosted the first meeting for our

November Holiday Show and Sale

at Buttermilk Cottage.

The big dogs were there to

 "Show and Tell"

what they've been working on.

I am in no way in the same league

as most of the artist

that contribute to the show,

in fact I consider myself a crafter,

not an artist

but I like to be a part

 of it all.

Anyway...

I was inspired

and got busy doing

what I do.

Origami Birds



IT'S A GIRL!

Last year I brought home some pink striped paper

 from VS.  We had used it to line our bra trays 

that merchandise our beautiful 

bras.

I was inspired to make some birds using it,

but alas it was a little too thick

 for folding.

I was inspired though, so I went to Michaels 

and purchased some similar papers

that would do the trick.

The VS paper got me to thinking

about "Baby Showers"

I picked up some little charms

that make it work.

In my world the STORK has taken a holiday

and the CRANE is filling in.

Here is what I've come up with.

Three print origami birds on some skewers.

I think they make the perfect decorating piece

and when the party is over

everyone gets to take one home as

a party favor.

I also made some jumbo birds...well pretty big,

that can be hung over the table.

The neat thing about these birds 

 they can be used

 in the nursery

when the baby girl comes.

JUST CLIP IT...CLIP IT GOOD

I've been crafting with my origami birds

and clothes pins.

There are baskets of birds

in my house

and I wanted to come up with another

way to use them for

my etsy site.

My sister in law Terry, suggested I attach them

to clothes pins

for a fun fastener.

And so I did...

and have sold two sets!!!

Now I know, about now you are saying to yourself

"what the heck can I do with

Origami Bird Clothes Pins?"

Well, here is just a few

delightful ideas.

Embellish a special gift

or attach it to a

Birthday or Thank you card

as an extra something.

Keep your letters

organized.

Use it in the bathroom for drying your wash cloth

or hanging your sponge.

Maybe as a bookmark.

You can even clip your chips.

Anything needs clipin...

use an Origami Bird Clothes Pin.

Yep, every home needs one

or two

or even three.
